The Captain Cucumber Challenge

One Captain’s Bucket will have a cucumber in it. The cucumber will have a code on it and a pink ribbon so The Committee can identify it. This Captain will be identified as Captain Cucumber for the 2026 Kingfish Shootout.

  • If Captain Cucumber weighs the heaviest kingfish of this year’s tournament, all entrants in this year’s tournament (2026) will receive $100 off their entry for next year’s tournament (2027).

  • There is no cash equivalent for this. The Committee will identify Captain Cucumber’s weights as they come in and keep entrants up to date on this contest as it progresses.

The Referral $5k

On the registration form, there is an optional spot for a captain in this tournament to enter the name of another captain in this tournament as their “referral.”

The referral captain will win a $5,000 bonus prize if the registrant captain weighs the heaviest kingfish for the tournament. Simple.

Example

Joe Smith fills out the registration form, pays his entry fee, and writes in Bouncer Douglas as the captain who referred him to the tourney. Joe Smith weighs in the heaviest kingfish of the tourney. Bouncer Douglas wins $5K.

The “referral” portion of the registration MUST include the name of a registered captain in this tournament for the prize to be paid. It cannot be done after the fact. A text, phone call, or email saying “I forgot” to enter a name will not suffice.

The referral captain MUST be fishing in the tournament.

This prize will roll over if no winner is named. The referral prize will roll over, but the referral name will not. The registration form must be filled out each year for a winner to be declared.
